How do the human sculptors hope to achieve perfect symmetry on both sides like that… they could just 3D print for under $1k

  5. DJ RichyLaurence on December 10, 2022 at 12:50 am

You need to see a physical representation of what you are building is why. They still build models of building schemes too.

Who else thought it was a car made of cheese when they saw the thumbnail?…. Just me? 🀣

  7. J_Wide on December 10, 2022 at 12:52 am

On average, a small car costs ~200m to design from the ground up, so a couple grand isn’t really anything by comparison

Which leaves me with the question of why most cars are still so hideous…

when working with 3d software everything on the monitor always looks super cool, that’s the problem. I remember 20 years ago a marble fountain that I had personally designed and made to cnc how horrible it was, I couldn’t even believe that I had created such an abomination 😰

They do this with HIMARS, but instead of clay they use wood to keep costs down. Russians have wasted thousands destroying wooden decoys.

Well why dont we get to drive clay models?

  31. g Man on December 10, 2022 at 1:22 am

They should be made out of freeze dried foam with properly applied resonators. Thermoplastic urethanes have came a long way nowadays we need to learn how to utilize them perspectively. I feel like I’m still living in the Jurassic period

  32. Chim Richalds on December 10, 2022 at 1:23 am

The price of 1 fender stamping die costs way more then a clay car so if it saves you from reworking it that’s most well spent.

  33. mr on December 10, 2022 at 1:23 am

    Idk giant 3d printer

  34. Retro Pursuit on December 10, 2022 at 1:25 am

Realistically clay should be replaced with 3d printing within the next ten years. Better structural properties, helps the environment by repurposing our waste and gives the designers a way of having a fully finished car with internals also 3d printed – even engine, clutches and pipes can be recreated using a 3d printer so you can’t get anymore truer then that unless you manufacturer your first test model.

  38. gng 999 on December 10, 2022 at 1:31 am

Have they ever heard of large volume 3d printing?

  39. christdragon on December 10, 2022 at 1:34 am

I always wanted to be a car designer, ever since I was a kid. I found out that it’s easier to get into the NBA, than it is to become a car designer. Years ago I read in a car magazine that the Pininfarina Mythos was so complex and complicated (in 89′) that the Italian designers completely abandoned their computers and just sculpted it by hand. I would love to do this job for a living. Thanks.

  40. Ar.Shreynick Rathod on December 10, 2022 at 1:35 am

I don’t why humans are so obsessed with machine in sculpting they are using cnc machine.

  41. Gwiz on December 10, 2022 at 1:37 am

I went to CCS in Detroit who turns out a lot of top automotive designers and got to see this process first hand. My degree was In graphic design. Boy did I make a mistake lol

  48. Michael Boyko on December 10, 2022 at 1:42 am

And anyone can easily see the difference between cars made on a PC and a car made by an artist and his hands… This explains whe the cars of 20s,30s and later are so beautiful – every line was born with the warm and skilled hands

  49. Platinum on December 10, 2022 at 1:44 am

    Is that… cheese?

  50. Lindsey Allison Westhaven on December 10, 2022 at 1:44 am

With all that – the cars are still crap πŸ’© and piss poorly constructed!
