Vintage 1/24 Scale Model Cars built in the 60's -70's and 80's (Car Show Part 1)

Part one: Model cars I built back in the late 60’s early 70’s and 80’s Some of these cars were giving to me partially built or incomplete by my uncle. I made some of them out of left over parts.

I hope I didn’t make anyone dizzy. That was as slow as I could get the turntable to go!

Model building is 3D Art, its NOT an adult playing with toys.
There is very little difference between a person who paints on a flat canvas, and a person who assembles a 3D object, using all kinds of different options, then slapping down a 1 of a kind paint job. This is indeed ART !
This video gets major 👍’s up from me.

love it, love it, love it. I’m 61 and remember seeing a neighbor kid’s model kit build in about ’60 – I was hip to 1:24 scale model promos but didn’t know about kits – I remember the first time I made my own kit at about 7 – a ’60 AMT kit T-bird and I just made it what I thought was cool – including as a 7 year old gluing the chrome valve covers to the top of the hood! I was so proud, I remember Pops saying – that’s "interesting"…he spared me.

These are mainly 1/25th, not 1/24th. Nice vid, though.

Your models are super cool. The Pinto is a 74 or 75. Big bumpers came on 74’s and the Pinto retained that grille til the one year only egg crate grille came out in 1976.

Cool stuff. I especially like the FS ’51 Chevy DeLuxe. I have a couple of them. I’m looking for a ’49 Chevy DeLuxe Grille, Taillights, Dashboard and etc. for a project.
I’m more concerned with the Taillights and Grille.

You did a good job with the glue to keep them still intact. They don’t make them like that anymore.

I’m having a great time watching your presentation – so thanks for that. Do you still build these days?

  16. Lloyd Hyde on December 6, 2022 at 12:38 am

Great collection, but I have to get right to it , I am totally blown away that I built exactly that same 57 ford, blue, and white ,with black wheels the front bumper off. The reason being, is that it is a replica of my first car, when I was 16 ,I was rocking black wheels, and black tires, back when it was not cool, I am 68 now ,so you can do the math as to how long ago it was, again,, I cannot believe that model being so exactly like mine , just wow!

One more thing. I wish some rich model builder/builders would buy a building, and make a model museum out of it.Whenever a builder gets out of building because they are too old,or the person dies, their built collection goes to the museum with a little history of who the builder was ,where he lived, and what got him into building plastic models ? I hate to see a persons hard work being thrown away by family members who could give a crap about what that model meant to the builder, OR they hand them over to their BRAT grand kids who play video games all day and destroy the models for fun. No,we need a model museum.
1st floor -Car,truck models and dioramas.
2nd floor ALL military and diorama’s
    3rd Floor Sci-fi and misc.
We need a museum of our own.
Where would the museum be ?
Detroit ? California ? Forget California.
They’d say no because of the petroleum based show pieces that is causing the Earth to die. Lol

Greetings from Monster Hobbies in High River, Alberta, Canada. Those are some great looking model kits. Most of them (95%) are AMT and your yellow coupe is the 1941 Willy’s kit (Could also be built as a pick-up, if you remember). the 1951 Chevy is wonderful, and I like your brown Buick, even if you don’t anymore. The side s look awesome and very "retro" as the kids say.  You’ve inspired me to make a similar video showing my progression work over my 32 years of model building to show my younger customers. thank you for sharing this.

I recognize the models and the voice of a very good friend who has been in the model car world and that is Ronn Pittman of Batavia Illinois who has one of the biggest promotional model collections

  24. Tim Mitzlaff on December 6, 2022 at 12:57 am

I believe that I had a lot of those same models, back in the day, and did them up about the same way, customized, or drag/gasser, or early pro street style.

  27. James Sawyer on December 6, 2022 at 1:03 am

Hi, I stand corrected by the fact that I thought you were Ronn Pittman because his voice is similar to yours so I did enjoy the models you built & hope that your creations show up on another video

  28. Guy Massaro on December 6, 2022 at 1:05 am

Brings back a lot of memories from back in the 50’s and 60’s. I used to build models also. I leaned towards the drag racing and super stock stuff. I also made a few crazy custom rigs. I now have a nice collection of die cast 1:18 scale cars.  Thanks for the tour.

  29. MrRichinil on December 6, 2022 at 1:06 am

Great vid . Makes me wish I had back all the oldies from the day . Its funny you mentioned burning the bad ones . I have a scar from the plastic dripping onto my wrist . LOL The good ole days .

Very nice collection and amazing work.

  32. Stone Kold Kustomz on December 6, 2022 at 1:10 am

The yellow car was not a 1940 Ford Coupe, it was definitely a 40 or 41 Willy’s. The number 21, Mercury cyclone oh, I believe was driven by David Pearson, if I’m not mistaken.

  33. Hensley’s Hobbies - Doug on December 6, 2022 at 1:10 am

That’s great stuff there! Love that you held onto all your old models, wish I still had all the models I had back in the late 60’s early 70’s! Great stuff though, very great!
