I think the 1990’s to the early 2000’s were a good year for trucks because there was just enough electronics to make them reliable and effective
They’re so expensive now
Use to have one. She was a beast no problem what so ever. Just like scotty said fuel pump and power steering. ❤
i’m about to pick up a 99 gmc C1500 with the same engine, it’s got 242,000 but it sounds and runs good
My 2022 2500 l8t chevy 6 speed has been amazing
350k miles on my 99 Escalade 5.7! Been my daily work truck. Transmission just quit on her, But these engines will run forever if maintained!
Low 90s-06s engines go 500k/10000m mls.or more while 07-23 blow at 80k or less do to intentional oil starvation piston design+afm to fail.
They are still perfect tricks. Do not believe this guy
Yes sir sad.
That engine looks amazing!!

I agree with most of the content. However I don’t agree with the year choice. Chevy trucks started TBI in 1987 the last box body. They ran the TBI up to 1995. The power was less than the vortex (97/up to ?) They milked the high pressure EFI too long. Things changed with the LS engine and that too is a seriously dependable engine that was diminished with the addition of AFM. Anyway we auto techs know what stays running with minor repairs.
I like the ones right after that gen with the 5.3 tbh. Ditch the carb
Did nobody else have transmission issues? Every one I have has a rebuilt transmission
my dad managed to break 3 of these damn trucks. which wasnt hard because he is a cheapskate who cant take care of anything.
Just bought a 02 with the bullet proof 5.3 in it
I got a 2000 tahoe and ive had it for 18 years and still running strong with 250k miles
What year of Dodge Ram is the best. In a gas model
I have a 95 with the 5.7l. Wouldn’t get rid of it for nothing.
96 Tahoe pushing 400,000 miles still going strong
Wish my 97 run like that
