Small Hot Rod Get-Together at Rudy's Barbecue

Small Hot Rod Get-Together at Rudy's Barbecue

A few hot rod owners got together at Rudy’s Barbecue on Saturday, and, naturally I took advantage of the situation to record it for you all. There are only a few cars and trucks to see……but they’re some nice ones.

Thanks for that report Doug… we amp-a-holics need a quality hotrod fix on a regular basis.
That Hudson was worth the trip!

We’ve got several Rudy’s here in the DFW region, Uncle Doug, and I got a father’s day gift of a large bottle of Rudy’s sauce, which has just the right amount of sweet and heat, at least to my palate. We’re doing some BBQ chicken thighs this very evening, in which that sauce will play a major finishing touch! Thanks for the video, as always!

Love me some Rudy’s – it’s fast but not bad. Thanks for bringing us along UD

Thanks for taking us along UD! That 50 Plymouth with the flat 6 had dual exhaust pretty cool!

Always look forward to (and then enjoy) your show tours. Takes me back to "cruisin’ the boulevard" Wednesday nights when the older guys had all the fun. Scarily than 1/2 century ago. OUCH … (LOL)

Thanks for the download. We just had our Cruising the Coast down here in South Mississippi. Nice to see the 50’s Apache. Love them rap around rear window. The Fifties styling always catches my eye.
I live by your statement you made, if you have it why hide it. Get out and enjoy your classic. Unfortunately I don’t have a hot rod, I roll in a 36hp 1959 VW Karmann Ghia cabriolet. Hot Rod would get me in trouble. LOL

6:14 that purple wreck looks familiar 😂

Hello Uncle Doug, Well, their definitely not Fender amps, glad your having fun. Sweet sleds, any one would do, one by you perhaps, I know how it was done. I’m not looking for sympathy, but, I wanted to tell you last week was rough. On Tuesday, Oct. 13th, and this is for real, I had 11 little heart attacks, the pain in my left arm was excruciating, I’m pretty tough and it made me grimace, I felt what was like a light pressure in my upper chest, but, no pain. I worked Wednesday, busting out freight, with no occurrence. Thursday morning about 8 am, I had another episode, but, not as severe as on Tuesday. At other’s request, on Thursday morning, I decided to go get checked. I was admitted at 10 am, that afternoon, they used a camera to look at my heart, they used a main artery by my twig and berries, sorry, that was just to be funny. My 1st diagonal had a blockage, to make it short, was transferred to a hospital in Portland, OR., to have a Shent installed. I was released at 10 am on Saturday the 17th. Doing good, off work for a week, some people will do anything to get a vacation. Glad to be here so’s I can still bug ya. I wish you and yours well, love the Hot Rod channel. When my Brother was diagnosed with Cancer, my series filament 1964 Mark 1 amp I got for $1.00, went on the way back burner. Would you consider a video that would explain a few things about their wiring. Brad the G has a video that featured one. Mine has an eyelet board which I think I figured out as every wire, save 1 or 2 was cut. Google vintage series filament tube amp circuit, also in the RCA tube book. The tubes are a 12AU6 pre-amp, a 50C5 beam power tube and a 35W4 half wave rectifier. The sum of all three, plus a dropping resistor, voltage drop, should be close to A.C. Mains 120+-. I plan to use an isolation transformer for enhanced safety. Sorry this was so long, as you start your third cup of coffee, or beverage of your choice. Thank you for sharing and your time. If my comments one day stop, one guess. All the best from Oregon, Cass.

That Hudson was nice! I used to own a 57 Pontiac Chieftan….It was like a big boat…finally sold it because I moved to a big city and had no garage to park it in…It wasn’t a very practical city driver car! HA! Trying to park it anywhere was a nightmare. It was cool, though. Sometimes, I miss it….but then I remember being able to easily see the gas gauge moving as i drove down the highway. Thanks for another cool video!

That plate number on the dirty blue looking car, I call it that because I used a bathroom painted in blue, but people smoked in there and turned it such a horrible colour

Neat old cars and trucks! Whenever I travel to Pinellas Park, FL on business, I stay at the La Quinta behind Quaker Steak and Lube. They have almost nightly car shows and old time rock bands.
