Hi, I have a question for you, more like a confirmation about a doubt of mine. I think since it is a two stroke six cylinder that the phase distance between two consecutive firings is 60 degrees while for a four stroke the better phase distance is 120. Am I right, is this the case for this beautiful engine? XD my ears seems to confirm this

That’s not a Series 71, that’s a Series 53…most likely a 6v53. The Series 53 was far more “buzzy” sounding as heard here.

There seems to be two distinctly different types of 6-71’s. There is the type like you have in this truck, one that screams plus the supercharger whine, making it sound like an old Porsche. Then you have 6-71’s that sound more business-like and throaty, like the ones found in GMC trucks. I’m guessing it all boils down to where the governor is set and how the exhaust is set up.
