where is ‘rev up the engine’ start line?

  2. Bryan Vazquez on February 28, 2022 at 5:31 pm

I’m looking to purchase electrical trucks for my roofing business. As I’m seeing that gas prices are insane in cali, I’m tempted to make a jump.
    Any suggestions guys?

What I want to know were dose the electricity come from when charging EVs

  4. jackle842000 on February 28, 2022 at 5:34 pm

Be kinda hard to make a long trip with one. Pretty tough to find a charger I’d think. Also how long you have to wait every couple hundred miles?

  5. 1mtk on February 28, 2022 at 5:35 pm

Imagine a new introduction using an EV: “rev up your engines!”

  6. A on February 28, 2022 at 5:35 pm

Or you could just buy a 3-7 years old premium car with larger engine than you’d usually go for and with regular maintenance, you could enjoy comfortable, reliable and cost-effective motoring until you drive the car either into the ground or into classic status.

I like the idea 💡 an electric car, but the problem is dealerships and manufactures are going to rob you blind when something goes wrong 😑 and believe me something always goes wrong. This is a vehicle 🚗 you will never be able to work on yourself without killing your self. If you reck this vehicle 🚗 it’s done ready for the junkyard.

  12. Jim Harris on February 28, 2022 at 5:40 pm

I appreciate your video but I think while you did mention the battery replacement cost you did not factor it in the overall maintenance cost. At the end of 10 years of so who ever owns the car at that time is going to get stuck with a bill for $10-15K+ OR junk the car. A gas vehicle doesn’t have such a scenario. Over that ten years or so there is going to be little real difference in the maintenance cost. Another consideration is the price of electricity at recharging stations outside a persons home makes the cost of charging nearly equal, per mile cost, as an ICE vehicle, Been there done that with electricity cost with a plug-in hybrid.

Too much instructions I stay with a gas car.

  16. Joachim Friberg on February 28, 2022 at 5:42 pm

To adress some of the things Scotty talks about:
    * The battery will last way beyond 10 years if you drive as you should and don’t overuse the QC. There are OG Telsas, they are about 10 years today, which has run as taxis since start with minimal issues. Similar with Nissan Leafs from 2012, some of them still run on the original battery and have over 75% capacity. Albeit it’s a small battery – but it shows that even the oldest and least durable batteries hold together.
    * Talked to a Nissan dealership today, they base the price of their battery on the premise that it will last at least the lifespan of the car – so 15-20 YEARS. Even thou the guarantee ends after 8 years.
    * Ignoring German electric cars; the price for yearly service in Sweden for an electric car is about 2500sek, or about $200. Same cars but with ICE cost between 4000sek and 8000sek. So price per service is extremely low
    * Expected price per 10km, in Sweden, is about 20sek for a gasoline car and less than 3sek for an electric if you include cost of ownership and maintenance.
    * The electric motor is more or less indestructable and will definatly last past any other equipment in the car so long as you don’t race with it. But they are not racecars – so that won’t be an issue 🙂
    * Batteries will imrpove significantly over the next few year. Samsung and Panasonic will release their SSB and, if all goes well, we’ll see those in Toyota’s and Nissan’s from 2023. First gen SSB will have about 20% higher energy density and will be able to charge between 10% and 40% faster than todays fast chargning Li-pos or Li-ions.

The the closed room of our biosphere’ (it’s not infinite) is filling with CO2 and thus that blends in the ocean to make carbonic acid, so when the plankton die of it, we (only a third of the oxygen you just breathed comes from depleting forests; the rest is plankton-made).
Man will dump the killing-himself combustion engine anyway, so start embracing and living with EV’s. (And those smart girls can be pretty sexy too, guys.)

Tesla batteries last about 350k miles, cost $20k usd to replace.

    ICE
    Oil changes: 70 x $80 5600
    1 Major repair: 5000
    Gasoline: 30mpg = 12000 gallons = 40000
    50600 + 20000 for 3 yo car
    70k

Or…1 new Tesla at 50k +20k new battery
    70k

    Oops

  29. neurosis333 on February 28, 2022 at 6:00 pm

I will stick with my Camaro SS with a 6.2 real engine in it even though the gas mileage is measured in feet.

  30. Jimmy Dee on February 28, 2022 at 6:00 pm

The influence of temperature towards the powersupply of a battery is really a very big issue. Once in winter I took my smartphone 2/3 charged with me, at about – 15°C, to use it finding a lot of new adresses by google maps, but the phone stopped functioning as soon as its temperature sank to deep. —-
So it will always be possible that to low temperature may pulverize your plans, if you depend on power out of a battery. That can seriously be a dangerous risk.🥶🥶🥶😟😟😩😫

I have an 02′ Ford Escape listed as a "Hybrid" w/ an electric battery. However, it is Not! It was a special order & I’m glad!
Ford mechanical Dept. Told me the Hybrid (Elect. Motor) was only Covered by a few year warranty & when the battery goes bad & that electric motor stops working?
You car is worthless, because it will Not Run!
I’m a Gas Guzler Dude all day & will never buy these Electric or Hybrid $100k Ford, Chevy, etc. Vehicle!
Tesla is kinda Cool but I’ve never seen a Charging Station anywhere I live. I’m South of Houston Tx.

  33. Sport Model on February 28, 2022 at 6:02 pm

Since the battery is so expensive one would think that there would be a trend that you wouldn’t get much for your used vehicle. In other words I bring in the vehicle after five years and Scotty said it’s good for ten (battery). You probably paid big bucks new but how much are you going to get and who would want to buy it? And if someone else takes a chance on it and plan to keep in five years that’s about the end of the road for this physical vehicle. Two owners and the junk yard. Sounds like our land fills will be worst than they are today.

  34. Derp on February 28, 2022 at 6:03 pm

I would like to see a video addressing the fact that the majority of car sales are used cars and the actual retirement milage and age of a car is far greater than 100k miles and 10 years. How does the EV transistion effect this used car sales market?

  35. Unknown Spirit on February 28, 2022 at 6:07 pm

300 miles a day plenty of ways to get charge on the go like alot alot alot alot alot of ways that are good and fast…. i love evs and anyone wanting gass wants the sound or cant let go that gas was a way for one man to be rich it was never the best car the gas but has always been beaten

  36. Harrick V Harrick on February 28, 2022 at 6:07 pm

Are there actually electric cars that are built as depicted around 4:45, with the electromotor sitting in the front whilst it powers the rear wheels?

  37. Cameron Bowes on February 28, 2022 at 6:07 pm

Ones that last a million are like twice the weight and a quarter cost (lfp). Ones that have half the weight are 4 times the cost and just had a fast charge breakthrough this year (solidstate). Other batteries are only good for grid storage or maybe a bus. Compared to lithium ion liquid btw. I’m waiting for mass production of solid states 👌 to buy an ev. They’ll be quick charging and last a million and be recyclable even if it is lithium which has environmental downsides by the time they’re cost competitive.

  45. John C on February 28, 2022 at 6:18 pm

So how much to replace the battery?

  46. mosconi0359 on February 28, 2022 at 6:22 pm

I’ve been driving all electric vehicles for the past (4) years. First, a Tesla Model 3 Long Range, then a Tesla Model Y Long Range. Before that, I’ve owned over (40) internal combustion cars. IMHO the electric cars are hands down more fun, faster, more reliable, less expensive to maintain and quieter to operate. I’ve had a few minor issues with both electric vehicles, like pixelated screen that needed replacement (covered under warranty) and a piece of the underside protective covering came loose driving through heavy rainstorm (covered under warranty). Otherwise, no issues. With over 300+ miles of range and all the Superchargers available across the country I rarely take a charge cord with me and I’ve never run the battery completely down. People need to drive an all-electric vehicle before they make up their minds about them. I hope to never go back to ICE vehicles.

  47. George Chernetz on February 28, 2022 at 6:23 pm

Hey scotty beam up the Electric Viking on YouTube. His new one shows how wrong you are about recycling those darn Tooten batteries. Yep love your car info but like I said better head back to Tennessee jed.

  48. Donny King on February 28, 2022 at 6:26 pm

So tell me how long it takes to charge it up the time

  49. lw216316 on February 28, 2022 at 6:26 pm

It would be nice if they sold an ev at a fair price.
It would be nice if they designed the ev so that changing the big battery was almost as easy as changing the small 12 volt battery that comes with it.
It would be nice if charging up the battery was almost as easy as filling up the tank of an ice vehicle when making a trip.
It would be nice if they told you all you need is basically a charging cord for 220 charging instead of an expensive "charging station" installed.
It would be nice if they told you that going uphill, using the heater, or cruse control drains the battery range faster than pulling the plug drains your bathtub.
It would be nice if they told you that the great discount you can get when you buy an ev is really a tax credit deducted from your tax bill – meaning if you are retired and don’t pay a lot of taxes then forget the deduction.

  50. Jeff Johnson on February 28, 2022 at 6:27 pm

I’m not a owner of an EV but some of these have good ranges for road trips. Sure a 1.0 liter turbo will go far but no power or torque. Charging stations are getting shorter charge times in a few more years it will be minutes
