Lynn Tries CDL Skills Test! (Class B Truck)
Lynn Tries CDL Skills Test! (Class B Truck)
On this episode of Wandering Wagners, we wandered to Mike’s work, Trainco Truck Driving School, so that Lynn could try her hand at the skills portion of the Class B CDL test!
I just wanted to practice the skills portion before even getting my permit, or learning the pre-trip portion of the exam, simply because if I felt the skills were too difficult that I would just forget the idea all together.
I don’t foresee myself using the CDL, but you never know, so I figured I’d give it a try! Plus, it’s fun to challenge yourself occasionally with something new. Not to mention, I can show other Women that driving bigger vehicles doesn’t have to be scary.
We arrived at the school and jumped into their “Students Driver” Class B straight truck and went on to the driving range to try out straight line backing, Reverse Lane Change (offset), Parallel parking, and alley dock.
I was able to perform all of the maneuvers without hitting any cones! That I honestly didn’t see coming! I thought for sure I’d at least touch 1 or something. I guess that’s good news for my potential CDL test!
What did you guys think? Did I do well enough? I know I’m definitely not perfect (hello over-steering 😂), but Mike said I got 0 points so that’s most definitely a passing score for the skills portion of the CDL!😁
if you thought I did well, please give this video a thumbs up on YouTube and leave a comment below!

Good Job Lynn
Do you drive those straight trucks for the CDL B tests?
Doing my pre trip and skills test next week my permit is about to expire 😂 until may 3rd
Great job, Lynn! I haven’t even tried pulling our small TT yet, but I know I should. You’re lucky to have a great place to learn and practice, not to mention such an experienced instructor. Good luck on your license test – I’m sure you’ll pass with flying colors!
prefer people that are officially trained pulling many lbs of cargo down the hwy, than those that could use proper training.
For Class B license how much do they make?
Can tell you a new truck driver using your back window to back like a car instead of your mirrors
What does it cost for insurance on your super C per year?
Graduated Trainco in August… And I have to say thanks to Mike and all the guys out there for their great work (and patience) teaching. That was a great 3 weeks. I really enjoyed the experience. So much so that after I get my 3-4 years in driving truck I would love to sign on as an instructor.
By the way: she did better on her first time than most of us did😄 For anyone thinking of getting your CDL Trainco is a great place to learn. The patience and encouragement Mike showed his wife here is exactly what you get there. In my experience.
I live in a State where non-commercial Class A or B is required, as appropriate, for recreational vehicles. I personally think it should be universal versus the few States that require. I also had a CDL A and endorsements when a younger man. I think Lynn did great for just having at it! I would advise covering the cab window as mirror use is key, and at least in these parts you’d never test with such a truck. In my day, GOALs were emphasized, and I still do when towing, especially at 13′-5" tall and a little over 60′ running length. Keep practicing and go for it if you want your CDL!
If you think you need the Class B, go for it. Funny, I used to be a debt collector for U.S.-TDS and collect on truckers who didn’t pay their school debt or didn’t work it off with a certain carrier! LoL
What does it cost to insure something like this per year??
I just did class b passenger endorsement road test and passed. I had passenger endorsement permit and CDL A permit and since I took passenger endorsement on the 15th of February and passed they had to reissue CDL A permit and since they did that my permit issue date for CDL A is the 15th so now I have to go to a training class for the CDL A. Not cool since I had all permits well before.
Where are you guys located?
SOME OF MY BEST DRIVERS HAVE BEEN MY BEST DRIVERS
I was 27 when I started driving truck (CRST) and my Dad was my lead driver and then co-driver for my first 3 years on the road. Dad started at CRST when I was 6 months old. Dad had 3 million safe miles under his belt when he retired (32 years at CRST). .
I had question. Mike said in video as long as you have permit by February then you won’t have to go to the training required ? You only will have to take driving test?
You can’t even get your permit without training? That’s completely the opposite of what the instructional manuals say from my DMV.
Nice job young lady. And Mike was very patient and supportive as you drove. My wife and I are both ex school bus drivers (she did it 25 years) but she prefers I maneuver our travel trailer around. That hinge in the middle complicates things. Lol.
I see the name of the trucking school is Trainco. I work for Keller Trucking out of Defiance, Ohio and as far as I know anyone that wants to get their CDL and then drive for Keller goes to school through Trainco and then gets trained with a certified trainer before going solo. I’ve seen and driven past many of Traincos trucks and I’m happy to see that more people still love to get into driving truck.
Do you have to go to school for class b ?
Good Job!
I would highly recommend probably going with a class a I wish I did
I say go for it all the way.I wish I could do the same thing,my dad had a single axle truck and I drove it and did the same moves you did but with one eye a bit to weak to pass the eye test I can not drive a tandem axle or tractor trailer but I do have my air brake endorsment.I am in New Brunswick, canada.
I thought getting out of the truck without keys is an instant fail @13:23
Wow..so I have a class A with every endorsement except bus. And now I’d have to take a course to get a bus endorsement?
Did ya get it?
Are you trying to be a truck driver Lynn?
Not bad, now do all that in a 38Ft Gillig Bus
Go for it,
Class A is the big rigs, right, i.e. semi.
There are many women truckers, and couples.
I can imagine Lynn driving a school bus full of crazy kids, lol.
Go for the class A
AMAZING JOB I AM IMPRESSED
I remember thinking I’d never be able to back a tractor trailer combo! Now I wish I could call Dad on the phone and tell him about what a good job I did at a really tight dock.
Parallel parking took me about 3 tries, not used to parallel parking without a camera lol! But it’s all about the rear wheel and turning all the way to the left or right when parking! And when you see you’re inside the lines, then start straightening out
Go for it girl.
You did really good
The CDL A backing was hard for me, so I decided to test out with a B, which was really easy. I only had a day to practice everything in a box truck. How many days did you train?
Measurements for the parallel parking?
Go for it girl👍
Hundred percent yes you did way better than I did it took me three attempts to do everyone of those almost
You did great good teaching 👏
Yes you can do what ever you set your mind too… great job
DAH… WOMEN DRIVERS
When she does her pre- trip have Dave out there and have her say "properly mounted." I dare ya! 🤣
Great video! Very informative. What company does mike work for? Looking to get my Cdl b also
We are so proud of you Lynn lol!!!! You had a great instructor ❤️🙌👍
Did ya get it yet? 👍
Wow, what state are you in? Maine you only get 10ft wide in your parallel park spot, and only 10ft past the length of your truck.
Go for it! I’m doing the same
