Video details:
This week, we meet up again with our neighbor Steve who was a previous Model X and S owner. He was one of the first in the world to own a Lucid Air Grand Touring and has now driven on several road trips and thousands of miles. We discuss his likes, dislikes and how this car differs from his Tesla experience after 6 months of ownership.

You can have 2 Model Ss in the family for the price of a Lucid.
Here in the U.K. the Tesla network is miles ahead of everything else, and despite loving the looks of the Taycan, EQS and the Lucid, I’m sticking to Tesla as others are seriously hindered by a poor network and all the stress that goes with it
I’d NEVER spend that much on a car but it’s very cool.
What an incredible luxury car!
Buy tesla
Lucid CEO comment in 2020 "So we are planning for production cosmos where some plan for production chaos… It’s not for me to criticize Tesla. But I’m an observer of these things and I can say practically that there’s only one car company that has production hell." I don’t care for Lucid. Peter Rawlinson has so much hubris, he probably thought they would be immune to "production hell". On their SPAC deck, projected revenue for 2022 was $2.2 billion, $5.5 billion for 2023, $9.9 billion for 2024. Actual revenue for 2022 was $257 million. OOFF! Lucid is a joke.
I am sorry but the models S is so much better in every way. Looks better inside and outside. Plus you can buy an S and 3 for almost the same price.
The GT is not a nearly $200k car, It starts at $154k, Do better!
It is a great-looking car but when it costs $400,000 to make a car you can spend a lot of money on fancy stitching, however when you can only sell it for $150,000 you have a big problem.
My bet is he lost more money on the Lucid stock than he paid for the car.
I have owned MS P85D, MY Performance, MX P100D and now the MX Plaid, but I am very interested in the Lucid Gravity. It hope Lucid is making it through the tough time they have right now. Perhaps don’t add any more trims and variations to the Air and focus on the SUV.
Lets see what turns out to be faster, EA getting their act together with their new CEO or Tesla installing magic docks on every supercharger location.
Love from Norway, my youtube dear
Break in period combined with warmer weather
over $160K for it. do they sell all the cars they produce? must be nice to make that gamble. who will buy them?
Competition is never a bad thing, it does feel more premium than Tesla.
Lucid will be a cheap bargain for Apple to acquire in half a year and then finally build their Apple car 😂
To survive Lucid needs to produce a mid-priced vehicle.
Im sorry, but I’ll take the Model S over the lucid. It looks like a car for seniors.
Kim’s ICE neighbors feel neglected lol
My trip from ca to ga was a nightmare with the lucid, constant software problems and don’t even wanna think about the charging musical chair game I had to play along the way. If you think tesla service is difficult, lucid is non existent.
I feel like the only reasons to get a Lucid over a Model S are for it’s "interior luxuries" or for the higher range.
However with the range caveat, I find it unnecessary in 99% of cases to have that 450-500 mile range vs the 350-400 mile range on the Model S. Mainly because of the Supercharger network where you can find more stations, and because (like Steve mentions) they just work pretty much all the time with no issues unlike EA and others.
The extra range also isn’t a huge deal to most people because typically you’re driving maybe 50 miles a day or less for work and such (assuming you’re not a ride-share driver that is). So to carry that extra weight makes the vehicle less efficient, thus costing you more money in electricity over the life of the vehicle.
Hopefully they remain in business and continue to push EV technology in a positive direction.
Elon needs to go ahead and watch this video and pay attention to the suggestions for the high-end vehicles
Apple ought to buy Lucid. Kinda same environmental ethos and luxury esthetics. Apple wanted to get into EVs before; well this is the opportunity of a lifetime. Why would Apple with 97B cash flow go through wasteful RND pain when they can easily scoop Lucid 14B market cap. This is the perfect merger. With Apple suit of software, they can change the trajectory of Lucid forever IMO🎉
Another cool video! I love this channel and have been watching/recommending you guys for years.
I really like Lucid and very much want them to make it. This owner is concise and rational. Great idea to do this👊
Crazy idea here but what do you think of Tesla acquiring lucid as its upscale brand ?
I wish Lucid wasn’t owned by the Saudi’s! Its like being owned by Big Oil!
10:48 In terms of Software, Telsa is ahead, but not by far. In terms of luxury…. not even close, but luxury is different to each all of us.
Good interview. Thank you Steve for showing us your Lucid.
Thank you, I hope Lucid makes it!
12:00 Tesla doesn’t currently have enough cameras in the right places to provide this feature. Hopefully when Tesla fully deploys hardware 4 this will include the additional cameras necessary for this feature. Also agree with you about the ambient lighting and the more advanced seating for Model S/X and higher end Model Y and 3s.
I wonder what Steve does that he can afford this car. He give me the doctor vibes.
To be fair about the epa mileage with the EV’s, I’ve never gotten close to the estimated MPG on any of my regular ice vehicles. I feel they have always lied about estimated mileage for decades.
I got to see a Lucid a year ago, and —wowza!— I was impressed. No way I could ever afford one, however. We’ll see if it survives and thrives, or gets absorbed into a legacy automaker. Sounds like Steve is a great, helpful neighbor!
200 k??? Serious. Joke
From another channel that did a road trip w/ a Lucid from Connecticut to Florida and back… the biggest problem was the Electrify America charging stations. None of the 350s ever worked and most were software throttled (per the message on the charging booth). From just a bit of researching, I found that Electrify America is owned by Volkswagen Group of America. Along with the horrific software problems that are/were routine for the ID.4, I’m wondering if it’s the software programmers that just can’t do their jobs. It’s enough of a problem that I have already discounted ever buying a Volkswagen EV and have so many concerns with using Electrify America for making road trips.
You do also know it costs Lucid over $500K right now to make those, yes?
yea no, thats not like an s-class or 7 bmw, not even close
Model S 2.0 A.K.A "over-engineered"
Used Lucid Airs seem to be the way to go because the price drops are so hard.
I also hope Lucid survives, but I do feel like their leadership was most focused on doing the SPAC. Lucid recently claimed they have some things they can do raise more funds, but they are burning through cash like water going over the Niagra Falls.
Saudi Arabia has been building up their EV company and it just so happens Lucid is building an EV factory is SA, because their biggest investors is the Saudi government. I see Lucid being totally bought out by Saudi Arabia and then merged into their EV company where both Lucid and the Saudi EV will be built in Lucid factories.
Lucid leadership has not been updating their vehicles the way Tesla has to cut costs. Some of that could be financial issues, but considering the massive losses they take per unit built, getting a simpler and quicker to build Air into production is crucial to their future. I am guessing they will run out of funds before the Gravity reaches true production.
Good luck finding spare parts for a car whose manufacturer has died. Lose it.
Saw my first Lucid Air at the L Etape Las Vegas bicycle race event this week end. It is beautiful. I just hope they can survive.
Even though I’m interested in other EV’s… I just can’t justify pulling the trigger, until the infrastructure is there… I would love the luxury of the Cadillac LYRIQ… But no way am I dealing with an unreliable charging network, when I road trip to see family in the middle of nowhere Nebraska 😂
Sticking with my Model Y for the foreseeable future.
