How This Vietnamese Carmaker Is Trying To Beat Tesla In The U.S.

The Vietnamese EV brand VinFast is an unknown name from a country with a tiny auto industry. But the company has already opened six stores in California and has plans for many more. It also is building a $2 billion factory in North Carolina and is planning an IPO, though timing is uncertain. It has partnerships with leading industry firms, such as LG Chem, Gotion, Pininfarina, ZF. And it has recruited alumni from some of the world’s top automakers, including Ford, General Motors, Toyota, Hyundai, Porsche, Jaguar-Land Rover, Volkswagen, and others.

Is VF8 a lemon product? A customer said that he can only drive a brand new one for 20km then his VF8 car stopped running… his VF8 ended up in the shop for a long time and he does not know when he can pick it up again (he seems to scare to come back to the shop right away)….Can VinFast can still successfully doing IPO on NASDAQ with this VF8 product?

This is so stupid and ironic, cheap production from other countries hit our market and people fall for it. Our country is in fact the easiest place to sell an ice machine to an Alaskan! I’m wondering how many Vietnam veterans would be interested in buying a Vietnamese car just curious 🤔

I’m Vietnamese but heck no V brand can dominate the Tesla. One think Vietnamese always profanity, need to walk before you run. The South Korean has many good cars no way the V brand can selling many in US.

  16. Asian Dude on March 21, 2023 at 5:05 pm

is this a joke? not a chance in hell they can make any sort of money here in the U.S. Vinfast is not your typical cinderlla startup, they’re backed by the Vietnamese communist government. Rumors are they’re using this company as a way to move money or laundering money. Beware!

  17. Vinny on March 21, 2023 at 5:06 pm

So they put a lady that has no experience with cars as a C.E.O, what a joke.

  19. Double_O_Shoe on March 21, 2023 at 5:08 pm

Convincing most consumers to buy a mid range unknown EV for around 40k is the biggest hurdle aside from the recession (stagflation) we are having. EV Industry is still in its infancy so that is probably what Vinfast is banking on and relating to consumers that is a cost effective alternative to Tesla. It probably will succeed in small European nations, but I do not know in North America. It is a monumental task.

  20. brad ferguson on March 21, 2023 at 5:08 pm

  29. Rene Le clercq on March 21, 2023 at 5:20 pm

I live in Australia and like the USA we suffer from the tyranny of distance.
So range is an important factor and to date I have not seen any pure electric vehicle able to overcome this problem with the best solution to date being hybrid.
Is the any solution/development to overcome this problem. Regards Rene’

They just use American money from IPO to build their empire in the U.S. It is a rich man’s pride.

Good luck go buying one for you

  38. Trung Le on March 21, 2023 at 5:39 pm

They should partner up with rideshare companies. Much more viable to subsidize battery replacement cost that way.

  39. Alexandre on March 21, 2023 at 5:40 pm

    BREAKING:
    @Tesla
has reduced their car prices MASSIVELY in the US. Changes:

    • Model 3 RWD: $43,990 (from $46,990, a 6.4% drop)
    • Model 3 P: $53,990 ($62,990, 14.2% drop)
    • Model Y Long Range: $52,990 (from $65,990, a 20% drop)
    • Model Y P: $56,990 (from $69,990, a 23% drop)
Model Y LR is now $13,000 cheaper before the tax credit and $20,500 cheaper including the tax credit.

Vinfast is probably sweating bullets right now. 😅 What do they even do?

  40. U2 BE on March 21, 2023 at 5:42 pm

Tesla ‘s the best EV car. I’m driving model Y that ‘s good enough 4 me to go to work everyday, but not good enough as fuel cars to drive long distances that’s easy to fill up gas everywhere Instead of taking a nap waiting for charging battery.

  41. Dan Phan on March 21, 2023 at 5:42 pm

Battery suscription on top of the price of the car?? 😂 im gonna shoet this company to the ground!

  42. TH Le on March 21, 2023 at 5:44 pm

All I can say is that they’re not doing real business.

  43. decoration2010 on March 21, 2023 at 5:46 pm

Is is really just a money laundering hub? 😛

  44. coprung on March 21, 2023 at 5:46 pm

If they can’t make it they have to change back making vincondom or vintampon

  45. Timmy Bui on March 21, 2023 at 5:46 pm

People in us not that stupid like Vinfast think, We have more choices here to pick and choose!!

  46. Donald Dawes on March 21, 2023 at 5:47 pm

You can not control the cost of your EV if you are paying a battery subscription, as the car company can raise that price at anytime! You do not own any battery. You are in fact leasing them. This can add substantial cost to the EV.

  47. Cheong T on March 21, 2023 at 5:48 pm

Vinfast is starting out and the battery leasing scheme may as well be a sort of grand opening specials. The leasing may end up costing the company $billions, and I am quite sure it’s in their cost projection plan to accept such a financial loss as the cost to build a brand.

  48. Timmy Bui on March 21, 2023 at 5:48 pm

Vinfast dream during daytime beat Tesla 😂😂

  49. Damian N on March 21, 2023 at 5:50 pm

The car looks great. I really like the idea of leasing battery. Unfortunately not alot of consumers aware how fast a lithium battery degrade. They still think battery will last 10 years if they look after it lol. No! It degrades everytime you drive and charge. If you leave your car outdoor, it will degrade even faster. Lithium battery technology hasn’t progressed far and will not be for a long time. Also, when battery gets below a certain capacity, the battery is very volatile meaning it could explode. This is why owning your battery is not a good idea! You rather not pay up front, and always be guaranteed to have a battery working at 100% capacity all the time. Also, alot of people think only market is the end consumers. There are car rental markets where they would want insurance on the battery. Most car insurance do not cover wear and tear. This is why I think VinFast will have an edge over other makers. Having said that, I’d like to see VinFast to provide customisable battery subscription so it will fit with budget at all levels.

  50. Thành Lê USA Cuộc Sống Mỹ on March 21, 2023 at 5:50 pm

LOL how about Vinfast proving itself can beat Nissan Leaf first!
