Here's A TOUR Of The BIGGEST AUTOMOTIVE Shop On YouTube

For your chance to win your own Ford F-250 and support a great cause, enter at https://bit.ly/You-WIN-Omaze-Custom-F250. And to celebrate Black Friday, use the promo code UNWRAP300 for an extra 300 entries for when you enter between now and 11/29!

Now that we’ve had a day to break in the new shop, let’s get serious. This is a complete tour of both buildings and the offices, and some of the future plans I have for the place as well. Next we’ll cover what it cost and how I’m going to pay for it. Hopefully we can start moving in lifts and tools in a week or so and get back to work on some cars!

That shelf could be used to store engines and transmissions. Just cut the chest height shelves out. And the top shelves out. Run some sheet metal as the shelving. Then a small forklift to lift them in and out. Have a small ladder built on the side so you can get up top to manage the the inventory.

Why not sell your house and live in there?

  3. Dach's Autos on November 27, 2022 at 2:51 pm

This is a pretty impressive undertaking! Kinda makes me feel inadequate for just building a 4000sq ft shop myself, i’ve only got 16′ walls 🙁 Looking forward to seeing the progress!

  4. steve smith on November 27, 2022 at 2:52 pm

I would have a lot of emergency lights on it and some other things

  5. Dave H on November 27, 2022 at 2:55 pm

Is that cell site on your property? That should be a source of revenue if so.

  6. Max Attacks on November 27, 2022 at 2:56 pm

Dude, you have GOT to get some solar panels if that is allowed. If you install them and set them up mostly by yourself you’ll easily make money. AWESOME place dude!

  7. WatchJRGo on November 27, 2022 at 2:58 pm

Sorry about the focus… The Fuji XT-4 is the nicest camera I have and it’s consistently the worst. We used it to try and up the quality for this video and it backfired 😢

  8. joeyconservative on November 27, 2022 at 2:59 pm

‘All I see are dollar signs. Good luck.

  9. Robert FromOC on November 27, 2022 at 3:02 pm

You should keep/make a super beefy walled or steel caged secure storage area for your expensive items in case someone does break in.

  10. That Dude Moe on November 27, 2022 at 3:03 pm

Anyone catch me up to speed on the shop?
Did JR buy it solely? A joint business venture?
I heard "Motul Lounge" Is he franchising?

  11. Big John Fury on November 27, 2022 at 3:03 pm

*I’d of split the big one and rented them out which paid free the one you use*
    *that’s a lesson in business*

Mate, are you on some sort of medication? What’s this "coolest truck on the road" or "biggest automotive shop on You Tube"? Wake up! There are people who don’t even see this kind of truck simply because they don’t give a raccoons ass, me included and the biggest shop… Give me a break! Merry Christmas!

    Congratulations John Ross. Huge accomplishment.

  21. Bill Spurlock on November 27, 2022 at 3:12 pm

    Congrats. Observations.
    1. Multi rib roof. The neoprene screws are shot and should be replaced. The screws will not last, incurring repeated maintenance cost over time. I guess 6000 and up.
    2. It will be less cost in the long run to replace the entire roof with standing seam, no leaks. Or a over lay standing seam. No maintenance.
    3. Adding a second floor. The building being free span, the existing floor has no structural strength for major point loads. Have a Civil Engineering design foundation improvements for any and all point loads.
    4. You will have ADA, State Fire Codes, Electrical and Mechanical code issues to address.
    5. Wouldn’t hurt to consult a turn key metal building builder, contractor to guide you. Or, check with the local or state AGC for solid names.
    6. Do you have a state occupancy license ? In some states, you cannot operate or occupy the business without said code corrections for new owners.
    7. Dumpster tip. A 10’x10’x8” , minimum heavy reinforced will be needed. The front wheels and rear axles have a huge grinding point loads where the tires twist. These concentrated loads will destroy any 6” or less pavement.
    Good luck.

My girl got me the PS5 🥲

  23. Sparky Spear on November 27, 2022 at 3:14 pm

Make sure you hire a local electrician to help you guys out, don’t try to do it yourself.

  24. Matthew Poole on November 27, 2022 at 3:14 pm

Those are package units. Heat and A/C. Probably a good idea to get a HVAC company out to give it a once over.

  25. Mike on November 27, 2022 at 3:14 pm

9:30 that metal racking for flat sheet steel

  26. Arnold Konnerth on November 27, 2022 at 3:14 pm

A bit late to the party but would love to see you turn the office area into a merch storefront and area for making it this way you can employ family and friends so they can join in with the fun.

    Cool

  30. MassiveTrackHunter on November 27, 2022 at 3:22 pm

Might want an engineer to clear it before removing any pedestals. Looks like there were loads placed on those existing frames that likely exceed their capacity, especially the gantry system, so bracing might be needed to remove the peds. I used to design PEMB’s for a living and clearspans were typically not designed for more than a point load of a heating unit, to save on steel cost. Plus if it is old enough, the required minimum wind and snow loads may have been lower than they are now. You may just require a few horizontal spanners to make them into a-frames and brace her up nicely for whatever you want to hang, without keeping the pedestals.

Awesome building for your channel. Gonna go crazy…

  31. Chris V on November 27, 2022 at 3:25 pm

looks great! automated LPR (license plate recog) sucks

  32. Inquisitive on November 27, 2022 at 3:28 pm

Become good friends with your local garage door repair business. Hey they may call on you😀

  33. Carter on November 27, 2022 at 3:28 pm

You should put lifts by those posts with the air lines and stuff. And you could use those cranes as engine hoists I’m sure!

  34. Jeff Thorpe on November 27, 2022 at 3:30 pm

Rent the second building. Focus on the first. Motor oil heaters asap. Don’t spend money not related to your primary goal. If you can’t find a renter for the 2nd building, put up walls and rent out each bay as a storage unit.

  35. KrazyIvan007 on November 27, 2022 at 3:30 pm

That grey chipping material is Galvanizing from when they galvanized structural steel.

  36. Joe Lopez on November 27, 2022 at 3:31 pm

Why do these places always have jacked up azz wiring

  37. Thunder Ranch on November 27, 2022 at 3:31 pm

    Spray paint it 👍👍

  38. Andrew Norris on November 27, 2022 at 3:32 pm

Idea. Wrecked Mclaren with an engine swap. Wrecks usually are broken up for parts. You could sell off the engine, fix the body, new engine in. Makes it a lot cheaper selling off the engine. And could put a more powerful one in with readily available parts and easier servicing for the new owner.

Do not cut that steel shelving out

  42. Houseof No on November 27, 2022 at 3:39 pm

Just wanted to let you know, you are truly an INSPIRATION! A year ago, your shortsighted (IMHO) former employer canned you for Youtubing too much. Now you’re buying a 20,000 square foot building. Mind. Blown! Huge thumbs up to you!

  43. Chris Barnett on November 27, 2022 at 3:39 pm

Love seeing someone going from being fired to doing what they love. It’s truly the American dream. It’s not work when you love doing it.

  44. John Hawkins on November 27, 2022 at 3:43 pm

    Congrats, John Ross!

  45. Maxima on November 27, 2022 at 3:43 pm

You can actually rent out a few garage bays by day for diyers who dont have a garage to work in.

  46. Alberto Ramos on November 27, 2022 at 3:43 pm

    Congratulations! Smart purchase right there

  47. Nat Hopper on November 27, 2022 at 3:43 pm

Couldn’t you heart building with used motor oil?

  48. Maxima on November 27, 2022 at 3:44 pm

Great place. Be a grown up and dont stop to making burnout videos. Keep your current content and show how u improve the buildings but please dont trash your channel by turning into a cletus burnout channel.

  49. Jayden Lampman on November 27, 2022 at 3:45 pm

You could’ve used the old office building as a guest apartment or clubhouse for your mechanics and employees a clubhouse for sure it can be a pain in the butt sometimes demolishing a building like it’s kind ✌️🙂

  50. Herbert Jacocks on November 27, 2022 at 3:45 pm

I like JR videos they are cool. I wish he would work on a Supra turbo.
