Once thought of as family-haulers and nothing more, modern SUVs have grown in capability as well as size. Today, SUVs are technology showcases, innovators, and trend-setters alike, and their ever-improving efficiency has skyrocketed their popularity to the top of the automotive charts.

For the Digital Trends Car Awards, our test compares the Honda Pilot, Audi Q7 and Volvo XC-90. They are 3 very different SUV’s, each excelling at something different. Joining us is guest judge and former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch.

    Well… when you’re making a "best SUV" vid, you can’t really not bring in the bmw x5, Merc GLS/GLE or the porsche cayenne, but rather choose a honda…
