Two biggest challenges facing automotive service industry currently:

Pay is crap for highly skilled automotive technicians for many locations and either moving to those who pay better or leaving the industry.

Too many bad quality aftermarket parts on the market in the US. Time after time I hear about callbacks caused by poorly rebuilt/remanufacturered mainstream vendor parts failing immediately or shortly after installed.

There is NO labor shortage. There is a shortage of proper pay for these technicians. Plenty of tech out there will work on your car outside of that shop.

If you think there is a shortage now{there is} of skilled techs to service the cars on the road now, wait til electric cars rule the road.
