It’s new equipment day at the cave! Adam tests and upgrades a new piece of equipment he picked up based on watching some of his favorite YouTube channels that feature old machine restoration. It’s a benchtop cabinet parts washer that Adam can safely use to cycle degreaser through old hardware and antique parts. And not to be content with the parts washer out of the box, Adam makes several upgrades to improve its versatility and mobility around the workshop!

Is he using a soap degreaser or a mineral spirit degreaser? The shop I worked at used spirit based fluid and it worked great.
5 adds in a 12 min video, that’s a little much isn’t it. 6 if you include the first one, that was a double add…..So 7 in total
Im super shocked that it didnt come with a seal and latch to begin with
one thing to watch for is long term storage. the degreaser wiil evaporate and eventually the impeller will rust. use it often keeps it working
You seem very destructive
Not enough mini chainsaw box opening imo
gotta love Ave ah man good stuff
mmmmmmmmm curious that you mention that whether or not the restorations that you see here on the platform are genuine or not, as far as I have seen many of the toolbox restorations seem real, but there are others that really raise more doubts than anything else. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks that
Two notes- 1 Nice of the washer operator to use solvent-resistant paint on the washer. 2- Its not air hoses that are dangerous but the air hose operator. Also would an on-off switch be handy instead of unplugging the machine each time?
When you watch a large amount of tool videos, how do you weigh them? Others who watch large numbers of such videos tend to count them, a method more suited to lists and spreadsheets, and which generally seems to be an easier and more convenient way of keeping track of them than weighing them.
P.S. "AMOUNT" | English meaning – Cambridge Dictionary
amount definition: 1. a collection or mass, especially of something that cannot be counted: 2. a collection or mass
P.P.S "Amount of or number of?"
When do we use "amount of" or "number of"?
We use "amount of" with uncountable nouns. "Number of" is used with countable nouns: amount of with uncountable nouns. [Videos watched are countable for many people.]
I used one for 15 years as field mechanic and it’s great to have
I recommend the restoration channel My Mechanics. His restorations are beautiful
People purposely faking rust? Like RestauraTo?
Wouldnt mineral spirits b better? If u get degreaser in a bearing thats not good. Ahhhh you listen to ave also. Hes my fav tool guy on tube.
Adam is such a happy guy!
Lets go Brandon !

Where did you source the rubber flap? What’s it called and where to get? Looks great!
Thumbs up for the nod to AVE, “UhhhhhGentlemen, welcome to the shoppp”
You should use a barrel as a stand
Amazon makes money on all you fools! Check your debit charges and you will find you pay them 240.00 a month just to be a member. When you order anything on Amazon they tac a fee on the purchase price. Your just a bunch of suckers!
Can you use one of these with isopropyl alcohol?
That open boxing is Not AVE approved adam 😂
dont think he understand exactly the potential of a parts washer lol. I think he expected it to bead blast it.
i went with the eastwood model which exactly the same. I added two shutoffs to switch from stream to brush. i also added a drain valve and hose so i can drain it without moving it. and i added a magnet to tray so i can better manage bits of metal n just wipe off tray when i find them. i used an eye bolt to support the riser tube with the extra piping weight.
Oh yes they pre rust!!!
what is being used as cleaner/ solvent?
Tbh, looks pretty weak.
The lid is going to break I just know it.
The base looks like it needs some more support for what will come.
I have to totally agree. So many of the off tools restore channels have like, absolutely uniform rust all over the entire tool. Like, how? I have never seen a tool rust 100% evenly over it’s whole exterior. The big tell is usually when they get to the guts and they aren’t even close to matching the exterior. The outside looks like 100 years of sitting in a farm field, and the interior lead screws look like they are off a 15 or 20 year old vice.
Especially with the recent trend of rust removal lasers I believe whole heartedly that some channels definitely add a salt based rusting solution to add surface rust. Also explains why they can easily remove it and not have large amounts of pitting.
Funny enough I bought a parts washer from a buddy who stripped out the plastic to metal nozzle connection for a song when he upgraded. I threw it a corner for later and forgot about it. 10 years I find it when sorting through my stuff in the shed. Now I am disassembling a Beaver 3800 jointer (over 70 years old and came apart light a dream) but I need to wash up everything so I can clean and paint it, or just clean it at least and I remember my old parts washer. Unfortunately I cannot find a replacement plastic piece, but my stock pile of 1/2" barb fittings happen to fit and recently saw Adam’s video on grease cans that had this washer in it, and low-and-behold he has this video on getting and upgrading it!
I’ve already ordered a spray wand like his and I’ll be making the rest of the upgrades as soon as i can. Luckily the pump still works, for now, so I should be be able to run it soon. Funny how these things work out after a quick search on Youtube!
absolute king
I call that kind of rust — kentucky fried wrenches… I have never seen rust that looks like a crust in all my life. I’ve seen baked on rust, but you didn’t feel you needed a tetanus shot to handle it.
I find it’s the chemicals you least expect, or underestimate that will do the most damage
I’ve worked with a fair few stripping, and degreasing products before
But the one that caused me the most pain was oven cleaner.
In hindsight, I should have realised a product designed to basically melt carbon and grease build up would be dangerous
But goddamn, you can just buy this stuff in your local grocery store, and it’s just awful stuff
I mean it works wonders, but it’s really dangerous
What gloves are you wearing and where did you get them?
have you considered adding a valve to change from stream to brush
It’d be so awesome if they sold them the way Savage has kitted out his
I was interested in a parts washer, but as soon I saw that Adam enjoyed his, it was a done deal.
As nerdy as I felt when I recognized actors across assorted sci-fi channel shows/movies, I felt just as nerdy knowing the youtube channel shout-outs/references Adam throws out there 🙂 feels good man
The only thing I don’t like about the machine you chose is this, and it only effects it when you’re using a flammable cleaner. The hinge is not a fire hinge. Most parts washers have a hinge that will disintegrate upon a fire and shut the lid to choke off the oxygen to prevent your shop / building burning down.
Should’ve gotten the "SmartWasher Pro" because it’s biodegradeable and more friendly to the environment.
The degreaser he is using says 1:10 parts water for degreasing, should it be used full strength for parts washing purposes? Adam didn’t note in the video
Adam double kill, adam triple kill, adam maniac, and the last adam savages
Does cold degreaser work as effectively as petrol/gasoline for dissolving grease and oil ?
Mate you’re too anxious
There are a nunber of channels out there, that paint their items with dirt and a rust colored paint. You can tell because the items in question, are aluminum. and have bright orange "rust" on them. and yet they have millions of views!!
I almost only watch tested, lol.
Adam please could you please add a ultrasonic vibration kit to this parts cleaner thanks Lazydude
Thanks.
I’m surprised you don’t have an old dishwasher to wash parts. I’ve been looking into it for washing old motorcycle parts. It’s not like you don’t have the room.
Adam references this old Tony and AvE. Nice
