Great vid. Looking out for the little ppl
Poor Bonnie
I got into an accident and they wanted to charge me $3,469 for brand new stuff on a used SUV…. Plus $2000 I told them I do it myself… Success saved $2000 in my pocket
Scumbag dealer got what they deserved. They took a shot at overcharging her and lost. The customer got $1,300 worth of work done for free. Good for her! Hopefully the dealer had to pay all her court costs and the customer didn’t loose money because she had to miss work to appear in court.
Go to automotive repair school, buy your own tools and fix your own car.
I don’t get why anyone would get a Hyundai. Sure it’s cheap but they are known to not even get to 100k miles.
Break pads? That is a typo. It is suppose to be "brake pads."
YOU MUST APPROVE ALL REPAIR WORK. YOU MUST BE GIVEN AN ESTIMATE FOR ANY COST BEYOND WHAT YOU HAD COME TO HAVE REPAIR.
As a truck driver who drives, 80-100k miles a year in my own semi truck, I deal with shops all the time. Dealers all across the country and small shops. Unfortunately they haven’t invented a truck that doesn’t break when you use it that much.
With that said….
I’ll tell you what, the shops are systematically stealing from customers.
They bring you in for one repair and then try and upsell a laundry list of needless repairs.
Worst part is for trucking is that if your truck is broke , you can’t work and make money.
So if you don’t understand what they are telling you is broke, you could very well be replacing basically used parts. Not damaged or broken parts.
Just because something is used doesn’t mean it’s broken. But the dealers will try and convince you otherwise.
They are all paid commission. So the more they sell the more they make.
Service department service writers are the new modern used car salesmen of the industry.
Kelly blue book, car fax, and the internet destroy the retail sales profit margin for the car business.
Now they have another cash cow, service.
Most customers don’t understand mechanical issues. So they trust a dealer. A dealer in turn will take full advantage of you and not look back.
Btw : before I worked in trucking, I worked as a car salesmen at new several new car dealers. And they were all step up the same. All of them. Sell sell sell and just when you think the customer is done, ask for another sale.
0:59 "BREAK PADS" Come on, ffs. You’re a CAR DEALER
There needs to be accountability for plumbers, hvac personnel and electricians as well. They are out to rip people off in many cases. They misled people all the time and trick them into costly repairs. It’s disgusting.
NBCLA, thank you for this story. In my opinion the Service Advisor clearly violated the law which the dealer realized and gave the car owner a refund.
I wish you could have taken this story/scenario and explain the role of the State BAR. It is my understanding the BAR will not represent the car owner to obtain monetary refunds. But only to enforce the law and enforce violations against the shop. I believe the dealer refunded her as a PR/good faith claim.
First mistake was buying a Hyundai. They are junk in my opinion.
