New Rules for Car Owners | Automotive industry changes
Car owners who do not have insurance cover may repair their motor vehicles at a service provider of their choice. This can be at any point during the motor vehicle’s lifespan and will provide flexibility with maintenance and service plans. This is one of the new changes for the automotive industry, which will come into effect from the first of July. #eNCA Courtesy #DStv403
Why are that southafricans only want to buy bmws..don’t u like other Japanese and indian and german brands.come 2030 and we indians build better cars then even Germans. Ull be proud of us
Even if you go to the dealership for original car parts … the buyer wont pay the prize of the seller.
A car always depreciates in value.
So what’s the use of buying original car parts.
Rather buy second good car parts.
What about manufacturers warranty? And training and quality control?
Will the "Other" Players be Subjected to Factory Accredited Standards that will still keep the Integrity of the Product and Brand at the Desired Quality Levels and in this, Benefit the Consumer…?? I agree with the Purchase / Motorplan / Serviceplan / Warranty Scenario, but w.r.t the Auto Body Shops, I see Redlights Flashing and Sub-Standard Workmanship on the Horizon. If you are in the Automotive Enviroment, Dealership and Autobody, you will know what these Enterprises pay, to become Approved and Accredited. ( Adherence to Factory Standards ). I say level the playing Field, But NOT to the Expense of Brand Dynamic and Quality.
Off the topic, but they must now do something about the monopoly regarding school uniforms. Schools demand an exhaustive list of items that can only be bought at one shop so parents are at the mercy of their pricing. I’m all for uniformity but there are ways around this that won’t bankrupt parents. Hope Springs Eternal 🤞👩🎓
This guy had a bad experience himself and decided "Let me change the rules for myself and say it’s for South Africa"
This was such a stressful thing for me, it was a mess. I guess this is good news
RAF a joke insurance a must if prople can drink alcohol they can buy insurance
All I can say is, this better be the rise of some VERY VERY good warranty plan/companies… I really want to see them cover My motor damage, when "uncle piets garage" down the road from Me fitted in a genetic water pump that failed pre-maturely and destroyed my engine
OEM must just lowwer their price and provide their own warranties.
I gave my car away the day fuel hit 14 bucks, just like i said i would. Just as when my tobacco was banned my income tax stopped, and no sin taxes will ever be paid again,
Welcome to right of repair sabc, now we can all be prepared for the resulting boycott.
Read up on luis rossmen in nyc to see what apple and others are doing to keep people from repairing and maintaining their own products.
Market inclusivity right there, the voice of the ‘small man’ (SMME’S).
That’s why mid-way has been calling non stop to sign a new deal…. when the guys were absent the MOST of 2020…
They say what you don’t know won’t kill you….last year in may I was paying 1100.rands for my car insurance…I cancelled it because bi couldn’t afford anylonger during the pandemic guess what…I was given a second option to pay r368….you do your maths.
…
Agent’s are going to make the spares so expensive!!!
WOW! this is how they DOUBLE SPEAK!
if you don’t know? then Google the meaning of DOUBLE SPEAK.
"Car owners who do not have insurance cover may repair their motor vehicles at a service provider of their choice"?
the key word above is MAY…
your cars warranty is void.
The old mechanic of the old days cant work on new cars with lots of electronics?
unless they are they have the papers to prove they can and also insurance encase they hurt your motor.
If you don’t have car insurance you shouldn’t be on the freaking road. How does this even make sense?
Its time for parliament to make changes to the Banks appointing service providers which clients pay for.
Hopefully the deals for repairs etc are accredited.
Price of extras is more than Price of a car .
Them cars should start from R6,000
Good
How about fair competition in the gym industry
Discovery only subsidises virgin active and planet..there are over 900 privately owned gyms that do receive this offer for there potential members
How is this fair
Thank God and we appreciate the competition commission and well done. You represent black excellence and we are proud of you.
I have one worry. I think we need more changes to open up more for service centres and manufacturers should not be allowed to grant accreditations and strong independent body must be established.
He is one in a million, best among many, most trusted , I almost gave up on trading then I met him through a friend, Austin is the most trusted trading expert who helped the life of my family and I ,
Well in my opinion. This will make 2nd hand car reliability questionable. There will be a need for an oversight body to keep standards and quality of work up.
It’s about high time. I’m tired of these ridiculous prices from the agents. I requested a part from Mercedes , they quoted me R13000. I then researched and found out who their supplier of the part was, their supplier does not sell to the public. He did show me the price they are selling it to them was R1325. That’s ludicrous man and just one of the MANY EXAMPLES I have!
Long overdue…these Stealerships are going to kak!!! Let’s see how they do with their over inflated repair and servicing costs….they are at our mercy now…if I don’t like their price I will be excited to tell them I’m taking my car down the road to an RMI workshop
Mercedes Benz Constantia Kloof is particularly shady in this regard! They don’t repair, but simply replace and sometimes rip you off, thinking you don’t know better and have nowhere else to go and just misdiagnose problems! I hope these changes will help!
What about audio #sound upgrade and security #alarms etc….
Bank charges on home loans must fall
Insurance should be compulsory
This looks like a talking ID photo
Cool, but when will get a good change to our Electric Vehicle market? South Africans want Tesla, but they still haven’t arrived. Even in Elon Musk’s homeland.
At the end of the day both bodyshops and Mechanics will have to start using modern diagnostic tools to ensure that they can supply a pre and post reports on vehicles they work on.
Without a report from a reasonable scan tool they won’t be able to put in claims to insurance companies.
long overdue, now lets see how the over inflated prices of vehicles can be lowered
Government finally industrializing the sector for historically disadvantages individual’s
now if the same can be applied to the medical industry we will see a much better impact on our communities. Cost of medical care, medication and specialist should be regulated.
It won’t work, let’s say Honda international will not allow third party back ally panel beaters under warranty. It will be void or car brands might even remove themselves from SA because workmanship can’t be guaranteed. Well done slow 👏🏻
I hope this lowers the dealers service and oem part costs due to competition
I will still service by the dealership Nd insurance recognized panel beaters thank youuuuuuuu
R: Good Morning commissioner
C: Good evening to you and the viewers…
So no more BMW Motorplan?
Oh boy backyard panel beaters and mechanics are going to have a field day.
Motor plans from third parties are full of red tape.
As far as motor insurance goes ; Insurance promotes bad driving habits… if you have to pay for your own repairs, your driving skills and courtesy on the road will be greatly improved and road rage will be eliminated. Pay for your own mistakes…………….
Finally! The cabal including dealers, aoto body repaireres and insurance companies must be eradicated. I learnt the hard way! The repairer inflates repair costs so insurers can load premiums, while the actual costs are much lower.I demanded to see their oem supplied spares invoice. 50% less. Claim against my policy for spares = 81k. Oem invoice to dealer…46k. My premium goes up and my excess is based on the inflated amount. Disgusting!
Excellent news for a change 👌😎🙏🏻💯🤛
What freedom has ever serve SA, I foresee hard times in the industry. The resale value of vehicle will drop. Corners are going to be cut. I’m not interested in this kind of freedom of choice. The relaxation of these requirements are not necessary. I’m not sure about this move.
