The cup holder mount is most commonly bought for peoples enemies.
The clamshell has to be on a flat surface. When you mounted it the first time it was flat. The second and third time it was on a curved surface.
From my experiences, ALL the windshield mount fall off in the long run like hours or day of driving. Also if y ou drive in the hot sun or turn on the heat, the phone stop charging and even turn itself off because of the heat from the windshield or the vents.
I’d try use double sided 3M tape for that big holder.
So, basically none of them are very good. The cup holder one seems inconvenient because I have to look down and I typically use my cup holder for, well, cups.
The one you side-lined, would work good in your passenger sun visor, to allow your passenger to watch movies on their phones while you drive!
Wixgear mount has been great.
I just put my phone in front of the cluster with no mount. It just sits there with the best viewing angle.

You didnt include the magnetic one. But thats fine with me. Not only does it not work with thick phone cases, phone grips or popsockets, but i believe can interfere with your phone signals.
(Gluing the magnet to the back of the phone case isnt an option when you want to switch it. )
VW Jetta 2000-2001 1.8T GLS had a double cup holder just ahead of the radiocassette player. For that year it was a very smart setup, because the cup holder was a kind of a ring with a resort allowing to adjust easily to the size of the coffee cup. I had that car until the end of 2021, automatic transmission started to die at 190 K (slipped in third). I always used the cup holder to hold my cellphone ! No magnet…just versatility on a sample of german engineering…but they gave up on that kind of cup holder. What a car for 2001 !!

98% of the time the cup holders are useless. When are automakers gunna get a clue. They should incorporate a very solid phone holder and or be able to mirror it to the display.
Now I’m just imagining having all of those going at the same time with a separate phone and I’m just panicking to find which is the Spotify one and which one I’m using for calling and one for navigation and then ontop of that one for school like zoom or a meeting and then everything goes off at the same time because you have different phone numbers on each one and then suddenly every single phone gets called
had a jeep Liberty with cd mount; great. Now 2017 Ford Escape, but all dashboard is rounded as are vents and cd slot. Only available place is left of steering wheel on window, but glue gets soft and whole thing separates from suction part. Also, isn’t placing mount in middle of windshield considered an obstruction?
The cup holder mount looks suited only for vehicles that have a cup holder on/up near the dash ..i.e. a van 🤷🏻♂️

I can’t believe you didn’t try the magic mount!! It’s magnetic and works very well. Just plop your phone on there and take it off whenever you want and one have. I love mine

Try driving 10 hours on a hot , sunny day, 38 degrees C and tell us all what the health of your mobile phone is going to be, all mounts except the air con vent.

How does the vent one work if you have the heat on? Wont it over heat your phone?
Horizontal not vertical. Your TV, computer screen or car screen isn’t vertical. So why mount your phone vertically? You can’t see as much and it blocks more of your visual plane.
CD slot holder is the best I’ve found. I have an iPhone 11, the vent mount wouldn’t hold up, neither would any magnetic ones. So the iottie cd slot phone holder is the best so far!

I agree. I just bought one and learned how to use it. To me, it’s a lot better if you have to drive a long distance everyday for work. A shorter communte just will not be worth it.
Iouttie or however tf its spelled is absolute trash. The ball you connect the phone holder too drops the phone if you turn sharp or accel hard. The fucking thing somehow knocked my shift and almost fucked up my car
