49th Antique Nationals Drag Race and Car Show (2021)
After trying to attend this show for the past 8 years, we finally had the chance to go to the 49th running of the Antique Nationals at Irwindale Speedway. Although the event has been running since 1970, the Antique Nationals took a break the past two years due to weather issues and the pandemic. The Antique Nationals allows pre-1959 classic cars to compete in the drag races, and many pre-1974 traditional or early hot rods and classic cars showed up to support the event. Great to see so many traditional hot rods and drag racers that rarely make appearances at other car shows! Also really nice to run into a few friends we haven’t seen in a few years, as well as make some new ones. This video shows the roll ins of the pre-1974 classic cars and early hot rods, a few clips of the drag races, and many of the racers on the return road back to the starting line.
