Editor’s note: The 2020 Hyundai Palisade’s point total was updated to 433 points on Dec. 18, 2019, to reflect that the SUV had a household power outlet standard on the Palisade’s Limited trim level.
Today’s large-family vehicle is the three-row SUV. For our 2020 3-Row SUV Challenge, we set out to test a few newcomers and two redesigns along with a couple of strong returning models included in our previous 2017 Three-Row SUV Challenge. Watch the video for more.

For any future car buying researchers, I ended up buying a VW Atlas, and have not regretted it, one year into ownership. It checked all of the boxes for me, and was larger inside than anything else I found.
CX-9 ?? Maybe not to win but up near the top …
What about the GMC Acadia? Or the GMC Yukon
super
wow fine
Great review
Just want to know the reliability the least trouble free S UV??!
Wow placing the Honda Pilot in the last place eventhough it’s the most reliable out of the others.
The Palisade front and center in the thumbnail as it should be
Meanwhile, the explorer st has left the chat.
just like any other car
Just a quick question which suv will you recommend for all conditions use and cheap on mechanical and repairs also for heavy towing approx 2,000kg 3,000kg, fuel consumption, and for its value
Ford Explorer is very efficient and looks nice..I like it
I like the Honda Subaru Ford! Hyundai KIA sucks!
The Ford seats are the worst in the Explorer and the Pickup Trucks especially after 3-4 years.
What a bullshit list. I test drove most of them except Chevy and VW (I’ll never even consider them because of reliability) and Ascent came out on top with all the safety, AWD, and better handling than the rest except for Mazda CX-9.
As of 2022, Palisade and Telluride will cost you at least 10-15k more than MSRP. It drives like a box-like the Pilot.
A close friend of mine is a mechanic and he said he will never buy Korean cars because they don’t build to last, their interior looks nice but it will start rattling and making noise in a few years.
No mention of Toyota Highlander (Hybrid). It should be on the top 3 list here, even though the interior is cramped but they’re better reliable than the rest.
My list for reliability:
1. Highlander
2. Pilot
3. Ascent (those who never drove a Subaru CVT, don’t deserve to comment)
I’m surprised that Buick Enclave didn’t make it
Ascent is amazing. Pretty sure this is a lame review.
fine
Everything they said about the explorer is so dumb, its suppose to be exciting and fun. We love our Ford Explorer limited and it has 4wd.
this is the most difficult review or sort of a meeting to attend where i had to totally focus on my ears rather than eyes. there was nothing to look at but lot to listen. i still don’t get it. which suv has the best third row seats????
What happened to Toyota Highlander ???
You guys are spending a lot of time telling us how bad the Pilot was.
roar !
Kia #1
like this please
I wished that the Toyota Highlander is part of this review! I enjoyed it.
A 5 year warranty will swing it for a lot of people.
Highlander?
Missing the best out of the bunch, the Toyota Highlander..
you should get moms to do this review. real life users of these cars.
no durango?
Nothing like wasting time watching people that can’t work on cars, talk about which is the best NEW model car. Come back after 10 years, and 150K later. Then your knowledge might pack some weight. EVERY single vehicle in those video’s had newer transmission untested generation technology.
I’d love to see a Jeep Grand Cherokee next time!
just like any other car
Much too long
I think the "saftey" braking systems are anything but in an emergency. Let’s say you need to just a curb go off road suddenly, etc. No thanks you. I have had to do that a few times to avoid wrecks. The last thing I need is for a car to refuse to do what I need it to do. We certainly life different lives.
Sorry guys your knowledge about cars are zero !!! If you said vw atlas is better than ford sorry 😣 vw is crap and full of mechanical issues break down and let it alone the worst transmission ever u can imagine!!! Explorer is much better let it alone the rear wheel drive is a big plus kia is good but tell me about driving enjoyment!!! Kia like a boat come guys u can do better job
Pilot is 1st place in reliability and size
not a Toyota fan but you did not explain the real reason why you didn’t include Highlander and Mazda. I maybe agree with you about Mazda is not a major player but Toyota is.
Really no suburban/Tahoe??
very nice
fine
20:21 🤣🤣🤣
Well, people for what it’s worth, as it will always be said, opinions are like ass holes, everyone has one, and you go use the restroom when you have to, your body functions are gonna control you some of the time, point blank, like I said, if you want to drive a set of Japanese wheels that’s your choice, but the Chevy traverse high country is my #1 choice for my money,
Buick Enclave Avenir AWD fully equipped rules
Went with the Atlas, feels most spacious of anything else in the segment. Our double stroller in the trunk with the third row up.
Im surprised there is no mention of the Highlander. Have had one for about a year and its been a fantastic vehicle.
“7 is the ideal number” yet you have 2 of the same
I want to buy Gmc acadia 2018, what can you say about this car?
